Bear is a Collie puppy who is in training to be a service dog. This site documents his training, experiences, and growth. The site was started when Bear was 6 months old and will continue until the final outcome. We are working toward his graduation in two years. Hopefully, this will provide an inside look at what it takes to be a volunteer trainer and the work it takes to become a service dog. Bear currently belongs to: http://www.americanassistancedogs.com
The first formal training we started with was a basic obedience class. He learned sit, stay, down (for lie down), stand, walking nicely on a leash, and had a lot of fun playing with other dogs his age and size.
